PreDicta
The PreDicta study is a collaboration with different European Hospitals and research laboratories which is sponsored by the EU. In Erlangen - besides our department - there is the Children’s Hospital (Prof. Dr. Zimmermann) and the Microbiological Institute (Prof. Dr. Bogdan) involved. The central hypothesis of this study says that repeated acute infections change the immune response so that chronically inflammations are eased. The connection between these infections and asthma will be investigated by using the latest molecular biological, virological and cell biological methods. The focus is set on the examination of the interaction of infections with viruses which trigger colds and the disease allergic asthma.
